DANKE RAINER!
Onorare la memoria di un grande Artista non è solo doveroso, ma utile. Si onora la memoria di qualcuno che ha lasciato una traccia, a disposizione di chi resta nel faticoso cammino della vita: una lezione che insegna a meglio vedere un percorso.
Nel caso di un Artista questa verità è ancora più tangibile perché l’arte parla un linguaggio universalmente semplice , chiaro in ogni tempo e in ogni luogo: il linguaggio della bellezza.
È un linguaggio che si comprende nella dimensione delle emozioni più che in quella delle parole, un linguaggio che non descrive ma evoca.
Capita talvolta che accada anche qualcosa di più , che il passare del tempo sveli una profondità ancora maggiore nella traccia rimasta e questo è certamente il caso di Rainer Kriester.
Con il passare del tempo comprendiamo sempre più e sempre meglio il valore archetipico del suo linguaggio, quel mescolare segni, cifre, forme, materia in modo insieme così misterioso e così familiare , come a ricordarci che siamo fatti per comprendere la bellezza dei numeri e il rigore scientifico delle forme , dei segni e della materia, come a ricordarci che ciò accade perché non c’è frattura tra cervello e cuore.
Nello Sala Permanente dedicata a Rainer Kriester presso la Casa degli Artisti di Cosio d’Arroscia, Paese Situazionista, abbiamo scelto di esporre la formidabile quotidianità di Rainer: una parte delle preziosissime chine che il Maestro faceva praticamente ogni igiorno, per fermare pensieri da trasformare in opere d’arte. Sono potenti, monumentali e solide come le sue sculture. Articolati e profondi nel continuo rimando ad un antico alfabeto metaforico che sembra poter svelare i segreti più arcani dell’universo, queste piccole chine anticipano la “leggerezza” delle sculture in pietra e bronzo, presenze quasi intangibili per l’armonia tra forme, materia e segno. Grazie alla disponibilità di Jean Marc Beyer , custode attento della memoria di Rainer e Christiane, possiamo vedere quelle opere in un ambiente arredato con i mobili originali provenienti dalla abitazione Vendonese del Maestro e della sua indimenticata compagna di una vita, Christiane.
Non c’è da stupirsi : lo splendore del Vero rompe gli schemi di una osservazione superficiale e obbliga ad un altro sguardo , ad un’altra profondità di campo dove il metro di misura si cerca dentro di se e non fuori.
Abbiamo scelto – in omaggio alla preveggenza visionaria di uno dei pochi Artisti del Novecento che abbia colto , testimoniato e tradotto nel linguaggio del nostro tempo il messaggio profondo delle Arti Primarie – di esporre in questa Sala una prestigiosa raccolta di maschera a elmo, provenienti da diverse culture Africane. Di fatto sono teste, e le loro forme furono studiate con attenzione da Kriester _ come testimonia una nutrita collezione di chine – , fino a diventare parte fondamentale del linguaggio estetico del grande Maestro Tedesco. L’insieme di opere così diverse nel tempo e nei luoghi ci consente di vedere la segreta armonia che nasce dal dialogo tra opere d’arte apparentemente così distanti tra loro per origine e materia. L’arte si manifesta così come un forte richiamo alla fratellanza universale di ogni essere umano: non è neutrale, è maestra di Vita e ci ricorda nei momenti difficili come quello che stiamo vivendo che è nell’Altro che possiamo trovare il meglio di noi stessi. Honoring the memory of a great Artist is not only a duty, but a useful one. The memory of someone who has left a trace is honored, available to those who remain on the tiring journey of life: a lesson that teaches us to better see a path. In the case of an Artist this truth is even more tangible because art speaks a universally simple language, clear in every time and place: the language of beauty. It is a language that is understood in the dimension of emotions rather than in words, a language that does not describe but evokes. Sometimes something more also happens, that the passage of time reveals an even greater depth in the remaining track and this is certainly the case with Rainer Kriester. Over time we understand more and more and better the archetypal value of his language, that mix of signs, figures, shapes, matter in a way that is both so mysterious and so familiar, as if to remind us that we are made to understand the beauty of numbers and the scientific rigor of forms, signs and matter, as if to remind us that this happens because there is no break between the brain and the heart.In the Permanent Room dedicated to Rainer Kriester at the Casa degli Artisti in Cosio d'Arroscia, a Situationist town, we have chosen to exhibit the formidable everyday life of Rainer: a part of the very precious inks that the Maestro made practically every day, to freeze thoughts to be transformed in works of art. They are powerful, monumental and solid like his sculptures. Articulate and profound in the continuous reference to an ancient metaphorical alphabet that seems to be able to reveal the most arcane secrets of the universe, these small inks anticipate the "lightness" of sculptures in stone and bronze, almost intangible presences for the harmony between shapes, materials and sign. Thanks to the availability of Jean Marc Beyer, attentive guardian of the memory of Rainer and Christiane, we can see those works in an environment furnished with the original furniture from the Vendonese home of the Master and his unforgettable lifelong companion, Christiane. No wonder: the splendor of the True breaks the mold of a superficial observation and forces us to take another look, to another depth of field where the yardstick is sought within and not outside. We have chosen - in homage to the visionary foresight of one of the few 20th century artists who have grasped, witnessed and translated the profound message of the Primary Arts into the language of our time - to exhibit in this Room a prestigious collection of helmet masks, from different African cultures. In fact they are heads, and their shapes were carefully studied by Kriester _ as evidenced by a large collection of inks - until they became a fundamental part of the aesthetic language of the great German Master. The set of works so different in time and place allows us to see the secret harmony that arises from the dialogue between works of art that are apparently so distant from each other in origin and material. Art thus manifests itself as a strong call to the universal brotherhood of every human being: it is not neutral, it is a teacher of Life and reminds us in difficult moments such as the one we are experiencing that it is in the Other that we can find the best of ourselves .
